YouTube API Services

StreamPulse uses YouTube API Services to display live streaming content from YouTube.

Your use of YouTube content through StreamPulse is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

1. Introduction

StreamPulse ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our live streaming discovery platform ("the Service").

Please read this privacy policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Using StreamPulse Without an Account

You can browse live streams on StreamPulse without creating an account. Whether or not you have an account, we want to be clear about what we DON'T do:

  • We DO NOT access any private user data from YouTube or other streaming platforms
  • We DO NOT store your YouTube or other streaming platform login credentials
  • We DO NOT sell your personal information

2.2 Information You Provide When You Create an Account

An account is optional, and unlocks features such as favourites, watch history, shout-outs, points and badges, and subscriptions. If you create an account, we collect and store:

  • Account details: your email address and a display name (and an optional profile picture). You can sign up with email and password, or with Google or Apple, in which case we receive the basic profile details (such as your email address and name) that Google or Apple share with us. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are not stored in readable form.
  • Your activity in the app: streams you favourite, your watch history, tags and votes you submit, and your points and badges.
  • Shout-outs you post: messages you post are shown to other users alongside your display name.
  • Subscription status: whether you have a paid plan. Payments are processed by Stripe on the web, or by Apple or Google Play in the mobile apps. We do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Notifications: if you opt in, a push notification identifier (provided by OneSignal) so we can send you alerts about streams.

We use this information to run your account, personalise the app, provide paid features, prevent abuse, and keep the Service secure.

2.3 Information Automatically Collected

When you visit our Service, we may automatically collect certain technical information:

  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the Service (pages viewed, time spent, features used)
  • Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address, device type, and (in our mobile apps) your device's advertising identifier where permitted - see sections 4.2 and 4.3
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve user experience and analyze service usage

3. YouTube API Services and API Data

3.1 What Data We Access from YouTube

StreamPulse accesses the following public, non-authorized data from YouTube API Services:

  • Public live stream information (title, channel name, thumbnail, viewer count)
  • Channel avatars and basic channel information
  • Publicly available stream metadata (category, publish time)

3.2 How We Use YouTube API Data

We use YouTube API Data solely to:

  • Display live streaming content from YouTube on our platform
  • Provide search and discovery features for live streams
  • Show stream statistics (viewer counts, platform information)
  • Enable users to watch streams via embedded YouTube players

3.3 Data Storage and Retention

We temporarily cache YouTube API Data for up to 24 hours to improve performance and reduce API calls. This cached data includes:

  • Stream titles, channel names, and thumbnails
  • Viewer counts (refreshed every 10 minutes)
  • Stream categories and metadata

We do NOT permanently store any YouTube user data or content.

3.4 Google Privacy Policy

Since we use YouTube API Services, your use of YouTube content through StreamPulse is also governed by the Google Privacy Policy, which you can review here:

http://www.google.com/policies/privacy

4. Third-Party Services and Content

4.1 Third-Party Platforms

StreamPulse displays content from multiple streaming platforms, including:

  • YouTube (via YouTube API Services)
  • Twitch
  • Kick
  • TikTok (limited)
  • CHZZK
  • SOOP
  • Picarto
  • TwitCasting
  • Owncast
  • X Spaces
  • Rumble
  • Vimeo
  • Spotify
  • Apple Podcasts

Each platform has its own privacy policy and terms of service. When you interact with content from these platforms (e.g., watching a stream), you are also subject to their respective policies.

4.2 Third-Party Advertising

StreamPulse allows third parties to serve advertisements on our platform. These third-party advertisers may use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Deliver relevant advertisements based on your browsing activity
  • Measure ad performance and effectiveness
  • Collect aggregated analytics data

We do not control these third parties' tracking technologies or how they may be used. You should review the privacy policies of these third parties for more information.

4.3 App Install Attribution (AppsFlyer)

Our Android and iOS apps use AppsFlyer to measure which advertising campaigns lead to app installs, sign-ups and subscriptions. AppsFlyer may collect your device's advertising identifier (on iOS, only if you allow tracking when prompted), device and app information, IP address, and these in-app events. This information is shared with the advertising networks we run campaigns on (such as X) so they can attribute installs to their ads. You can limit this by declining the iOS tracking prompt or resetting or deleting your advertising ID in your device settings. See AppsFlyer's Services Privacy Policy for more information.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

5.1 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small data files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies to:

  • Remember your preferences (e.g., selected filters, categories)
  • Analyze how users interact with the Service
  • Improve performance and user experience

5.2 Types of Cookies We Use

  • Essential Cookies: Required for the Service to function properly
  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Service
  • Advertising Cookies: Used by third parties to deliver relevant ads

5.3 Managing Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. However, disabling cookies may limit your ability to use certain features of the Service.

6. Information Stored on Your Device

StreamPulse stores, accesses, and collects information directly or indirectly on or from your device, including by placing, accessing, or recognizing cookies and similar technology on your device or browser. This includes:

  • User preferences (filters, sort options)
  • Cached stream data for faster loading
  • Analytics and performance data
  • Third-party advertising cookies

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share aggregated, non-personally identifiable information for analytics and improvement purposes.

7.1 Information Sharing with Third Parties

We may share information with:

  • Service Providers: Third parties who provide hosting, analytics, and advertising services
  • Advertising Partners: Third parties who serve advertisements on our platform
  • Attribution Partners: AppsFlyer, and the advertising networks we run campaigns on, to measure which ads lead to app installs (see section 4.3)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

8. Data Deletion and Retention

8.1 Automatic Data Deletion

  • Cached YouTube API Data is automatically deleted after 24 hours
  • Usage analytics data is aggregated and anonymized
  • Cookies can be deleted through your browser settings

8.2 Deleting Your Account

If you have an account, you can delete it at any time from the account settings in the app. This permanently removes your profile, points history, watch history, favourites, stream tags, shout-outs and your sign-in record, and cancels any subscription you bought through our website. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled in your store account settings. If you cannot use the app, email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will delete it for you. Votes and reports on shout-outs are not linked to your account. We may keep limited records where the law requires it, for example payment records.

8.3 Revoking Access (Not Applicable)

StreamPulse does NOT access any authorized user data from YouTube or other platforms. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, that sign-in is used only to identify you and create your StreamPulse account; it does not give us access to your YouTube or other account data, so there is nothing to revoke on the YouTube side.

If you wish to manage your Google/YouTube account permissions, you can do so at:

https://myaccount.google.com/connections

9. Children's Privacy

StreamPulse is a general audience service and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

10. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
